Golf Solitaire is a race against the tableau: you clear cards by building up or down off a single foundation pile, where no building is ever allowed. Some call it "One Foundation." The game is extremely difficult, with just a 2% chance of winning. It's played with a single deck, and your result comes down to skill and luck more than anything else.

How to play Golf Solitaire

Layout:

1 foundation pile: Build up or down, regardless of suit. There's no wraparound: a Two can follow an Ace and a Queen can follow a King, but an Ace never follows a King, and a King never follows an Ace.

7 tableau piles: No building allowed. Each pile starts with 5 cards, all dealt face-up, and the top card of each is free to play onto the foundation.

Stock: Click to turn over 1 card onto the foundation. There are no redeals.

Foundation:

There is one foundation pile.

A card may be added if it's one rank higher or lower than the pile's current top card, regardless of suit. So on a 9, either an 8 or a 10 can land. There's no wraparound, so you can't play an Ace on a King or a King on an Ace.

Cards played to the foundation stay there. With no building allowed on the tableau, they never come back into play.

Tableau:

Seven tableau piles, each dealt five cards face-up.

No building is allowed on the tableau.

Cards not covered by another card are free to play onto the foundation.

Empty tableau spaces stay empty. Nothing can fill them.

Only one card moves at a time. Sequences are not permitted.

Stock:

The stock holds the 16 cards left after the deal.

Click the stock to turn one card onto the foundation. There are no redeals.
