A Yukon Solitaire version in which you build down in non-matching suits instead of alternating colors. This is a single-deck, medium-difficulty game that wins about 70% of the time when you plan which non-matching suit to bury before you commit to a stack.

The game is comparable to others such as Yukon, Alaska Solitaire, and Russian Solitaire.

For a simpler build rule, Solitaire drops the non-matching-suit requirement entirely.

How to play Moosehide Solitaire

Layout:

4 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

7 tableau piles: Build down in non-matching suits. Card groups may be moved regardless of their order. Empty spots may only be filled with Kings. The first pile is a single face-up card; each pile after that carries one more face-down card than the last, topped with five face-up cards.

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 10 of diamonds is a J of diamonds.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

Seven tableau piles are dealt: the first is a single face-up card, and every pile after it gets one more face-down card than the one before, topped with five face-up cards.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and a different suit from the pile's current top card, so the cards that fit on the Q of diamonds are the J of spades, J of hearts, or J of clubs.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

Any face-up card in the tableau may also be moved to another tableau column where it fits, carrying along every card stacked on top of it.
