How to play Number Ten Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

10 tableau piles: Alternate color construction. If a group of cards is in sequence down by alternate colors, they can be moved. Any card can fill a space. At the start of the game, each pile is given four cards, two face-down and two face-up.

Stock: Click to turn over 1 card at a time to the garbage pile. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card can be played on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace in the foundation may be transferred to any vacant pile.

A card may be added to a foundation pile if it is one higher than the pile's previous top card and is of the same suit. As a result, the only card that might be played on a Q of spades is a K of spades. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Splayed downhill, ten tableau piles of four cards each. The top two cards in each pile are dealt face-down, while the remaining cards are dealt face-up.

A card may be added to a tableau pile if it is one lower than the pile's previous top card and is of the opposing color. As a result, the cards that may be played on the 9 of spades would be the 8 of hearts or the 8 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Any card can fill an empty slot in the tableau.

If the cards are alternately red and black, groups of cards in succession from high to low can be shifted from one tableau column to another.

Stock and waste:

There is one garbage pile and the remaining cards comprise the stock.

When you click on the stock, one card from the stock is dealt to the garbage. There can only be one trip through the stock.

The top card of the trash can be played to the tableau or foundation.
