Quadrangle Solitaire plays a lot like Corona, but with a twist: instead of every foundation starting on the Ace, the first card you deal into the foundation sets the base rank, and the rest of the piles have to follow along.

Since foundation-building is the whole draw here, Corona Solitaire and the classic Spider Solitaire offer more of the same idea.

How to play Quadrangle Solitaire

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

One foundation pile is dealt a random starting card, which sets the rank for the game. The other seven piles fill in later, but only with cards of that same rank.

A card can be added to a foundation pile if it's one rank higher than the pile's current top card and the same suit. So the only card that can go on the 8 of diamonds is the 9 of diamonds. A pile can hold no more than 13 cards.

The top card of any foundation pile can move back into play if another pile will take it.

Tableau:

Twelve tableau piles, each dealt three cards face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's original top card. So the only card that can go on the 7 of diamonds is the 6 of diamonds.

Any tableau card not covered by another card is free to play onto the foundation or another tableau pile.

An empty tableau spot is filled right away with a card from the waste. If the waste is empty, a card comes from the stock instead. If the stock is empty too, any card can fill the spot.

Only one card moves at a time; sequences can't be moved as a group.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile, and the remaining cards make up the stock.

Click the stock to deal one card to the waste. You only get one pass through the stock.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or foundation.
