Four FreeCell cells meet a Canfield twist: one foundation deals a random rank, and the other seven start on that same rank too.

Skippy Solitaire borrows the four cells of FreeCell and pairs them with a Canfield-style twist: instead of always starting on the Ace, the first foundation is dealt a random card, and the other seven foundations each start on that same rank. Two decks are dealt across sixteen tableau piles, all face-up from the start, so you're sorting a lot of cards with only one pass through the stock. Lillian Davies and Christa Baran created this game.

How to play Skippy Solitaire

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

One foundation pile is given a random starting card. Every other pile then starts on a card of that same rank.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 9 of clubs is a 10 of clubs. There can be no more than 13 cards in a pile.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Cells:

There are four cells, all empty at the start.

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any open cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

There are sixteen tableau piles of four cards each, all dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower than the pile's current top card, regardless of suit, so the only card that fits on a nine is an eight of any suit.

Any tableau card not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an open cell, or another tableau pile.

Only one card may be moved at a time; sequences aren't permitted.

Only the highest-ranked card in play may fill an empty tableau spot.

Stock and waste:

There is one waste pile, and the remaining cards make up the stock.

Click the stock to deal one card to the waste. There's only one pass through the stock; no redeals.

The top waste card is eligible for play to a cell, tableau, or foundation.
