Ten Across Solitaire takes Russian Solitaire's same-suit tableau building and adds two free cells, plus a valley-shaped deal: the two outer columns arrive fully face-up, and the columns tighten inward until the middle pair show just their top card.

Russian Cell Solitaire is its closest relative, built on the same suit-matched tableau and free supermoves, just with a different starting layout. Double Russian Solitaire is worth a look too if you'd rather have a bigger board than a couple of cells.

How to play Ten Across Solitaire

Foundation:

There are four foundation piles.

Any ace may be played to a vacant foundation pile as it becomes available.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on an 8 of clubs is a 9 of clubs.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Cells:

Two cells, each holding one card at the start.

One card can be stored in each cell. Any available card can be played into any available cell. Cell cards can be played back to the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles of five cards each, dealt in a valley shape: the outermost piles are entirely face-up, each pile toward the middle has one more face-down card, and the two center piles show only their top card face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 4 of clubs is a 3 of clubs.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto the foundation, an empty cell, or any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

Any face-up card in the tableau may move to another tableau column where it fits, bringing along every card stacked on top of it.
