Build a two-deck pyramid across ten tableau piles that rise to ten cards and taper back down, then chase an 85% win rate that rewards skill and a little luck. Thieves of Egypt Game Layout

Thieves of Egypt Solitaire is a two-deck Forty Thieves Solitaire variant with a pyramid-shaped tableau: the ten piles rise from one card up to ten in the middle, then taper back down to two. It's medium difficulty, with an 85% chance of winning, and how you do comes down to a mix of skill and luck.

The closest relatives are Alexandria Solitaire, which stretches the same idea across three decks and a wider, flatter pyramid of thirteen piles peaking at seven cards, and Cleopatra Solitaire, which spreads its pyramid across thirteen narrower columns instead of ten.

How to play Thieves of Egypt Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

10 tableau piles: Build down by alternating color. A run already in sequence can move together as a group. Only a King can fill an empty pile. The piles start at one card, three, five, seven, nine, ten, eight, six, four, and two, in order across the ten piles, all dealt face up.

Stock: Click to deal one card at a time to the waste pile. You only get one pass through the stock; there's no redeal.

Waste: The top card can be played to the foundations or the tableau.

Foundation:

Eight foundation piles hold the two decks. A card can join a pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that could follow a 10 of hearts is the jack of hearts. Each pile fills from ace to king, 13 cards deep.

You can also move a foundation's top card back into the tableau if a pile there will take it.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles, dealt in a rising-and-falling pyramid: one card in the first pile, three in the second, five in the third, seven in the fourth, nine in the fifth, ten in the sixth, then eight, six, four, and two in the last four piles. Every card is dealt face up.

A card can be added to a pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color, so the cards that can follow an 8 of hearts are the 7 of spades or the 7 of clubs.

Only cards that aren't covered by another card are free to move, onto a foundation or another tableau pile. Because building alternates colors, a run already in that sequence can move together from one pile to another.

Only a King, or an alternating-color run topped by a King, can fill an empty tableau pile.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile, and everything else starts in the stock. Click the stock to deal one card at a time to the waste. You only get a single pass through the stock, so play what you can before it runs out.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or a foundation.
