A Forty Thieves Solitaire variant played with two decks and three waste piles instead of one. It's medium difficulty, with a 30% chance of winning, and your odds come down mostly to skill.

It belongs to the same family as Five Pirates and Bandit.

Where Three Pirates keeps three waste piles moving at once, original Solitaire slows things back down to one.

How to play Three Pirates Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

10 tableau piles: Build down in the same suit. Only one card can be moved at a time. Any card can fill an empty pile. Each pile is dealt four cards face-up at the start.

Stock: Click to deal 1 card at a time to each waste pile. There are no redeals.

3 waste piles: The top card of each pile can be played on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace on a foundation may be moved back to an empty tableau pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on an 8 of hearts is a 9 of hearts. No pile can hold more than 13 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

Ten tableau piles of four cards each, all dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 6 of diamonds is a 5 of diamonds.

Cards on the tableau that aren't covered by another card are free to move to the foundation or another tableau pile.

Only single cards move between tableau piles, never stacks.

Any card can fill an empty tableau slot.

Stock and waste:

There are three waste piles, and the rest of the cards make up the stock.

Click the stock to deal one card to each waste pile. You get a single pass through the stock, no redeals.

The top card of each waste pile is ready for play to the tableau or foundation.
