Double Canfield spreads Canfield's rules across eight foundations and five tableau piles, and doubling the deck makes it dramatically easier: a friendly 99% win rate. Double Canfield Game Layout

Double Canfield Solitaire is Canfield Solitaire played with two decks instead of one, which spreads the same rules across eight foundation piles and five tableau piles and makes the game considerably easier than the original. You'll win 99% of the hands you play, which is about as simple as this genre gets. Two decks are dealt out, and a little skill layered on top of the deal is what carries the rest.

Its closest relatives are Demon Solitaire and Variegated Canfield Solitaire, both built on the same reserve-and-foundation core.

How to play Double Canfield Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up in suit from whatever rank the first pile is dealt, wrapping from King to Ace, until each pile holds 13 cards.

5 tableau piles: Build down by alternating color; matched runs can move together as a group. Empty spots refill from the reserve first, then from any card once the reserve is empty. Each pile starts with one card, dealt face-up.

Stock: Click to deal three cards at a time to the waste (fewer near the end of a pass). Redeals are unlimited.

Waste: The top card is always playable on the foundation or tableau.

Reserve: Thirteen cards are dealt here at the start, only the top one face-up. Its top card is always playable on the foundation or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

The first foundation pile is dealt a random starting card; every other foundation pile must start with a card of that same rank.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a Jack of spades is the Queen of spades. Each pile holds up to 13 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Reserve:

There's one reserve pile, dealt thirteen cards at the start: the top card face-up, the rest face-down. Nothing can be moved into the reserve. Its top card can be played onto the tableau or the foundation.

Tableau:

Five tableau piles of one card each, all dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the only cards that fit on the 6 of clubs are the 5 of hearts or the 5 of diamonds.

Any tableau card that isn't covered by another card is free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

When a tableau spot opens up, the reserve's top card fills it right away; once the reserve runs dry, any card can fill an empty spot instead.

A run of cards in alternating colors, high to low, can move together from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile, and the remaining 85 cards make up the stock.

Click the stock to deal three cards at a time to the waste. You can go through the stock as many times as you like; each time it runs out, the waste is turned back over to become the new stock.

The top waste card can be played to the tableau or foundation.
