Interchange Solitaire is a Forty Thieves Solitaire variant that deals every other tableau card face-down, so half of what you're building on starts hidden. It's extremely difficult, with only a 0.1% chance of winning, and it's played with two decks.

Triple Interchange Solitaire and Unlimited Solitaire use the same face-down dealing trick, if you'd like to try a different pile count or redeal limit.

How to play Interchange Solitaire

Layout:

8 foundation piles: Build up from Ace to King in the same suit.

7 tableau piles: Build down in the same suit. Groups of cards in sequence can move together as long as they're all the same suit. Only a King, or a sequence starting with a King, can fill an empty pile. At the start of the game, 7 cards are dealt to each pile, alternating face-up and face-down.

Stock: Click to flip one card at a time to the waste. There are no redeals.

Waste: The top card is always available for play on the foundations or tableau.

Foundation:

There are eight foundation piles.

Any ace on a foundation can be moved back to an empty tableau pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card. So the only card that can follow a 7 of spades is the 8 of spades. A pile holds no more than 13 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

There are seven tableau piles of seven cards each. The even-numbered cards in each pile are dealt face-down, and the odd-numbered cards are dealt face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's top card. So the only card that can follow an 8 of hearts is the 7 of hearts.

Cards not covered by another card are free to move to the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only Kings can fill an empty tableau slot.

If a group of cards in sequence is all the same suit, you can move it as a unit from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

There's one waste pile; the rest of the cards form the stock.

Click the stock to deal one card to the waste. You get a single pass through the stock, with no redeal.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or foundation.
