Thomas Warfield devised this three-deck version of Klondike, a bigger sibling of the two-deck Double Klondike Solitaire: three decks, twelve foundations, and a thirteen-pile tableau staircase.

Comparable games include Quadruple Klondike Solitaire, which adds a fourth deck and more tableau piles still.

How to play Triple Klondike Solitaire

Foundation:

There are twelve foundation piles.

Any ace can be placed on an empty foundation pile.

A card can be added to a foundation pile only if it's one rank higher and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 4 of diamonds is a 5 of diamonds. No pile can hold more than 13 cards.

The top card of each foundation can be moved back into play if another pile will accept it.

Tableau:

Thirteen tableau piles, dealt in a staircase: one card in the first pile, two in the second, three in the third, and so on. Only the top card of each pile is dealt face-up; the rest are face-down.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the opposite color of the pile's current top card, so the only cards that fit on a J of diamonds are the 10 of spades and 10 of clubs.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card are free to be played onto the foundation or any other tableau pile.

Only Kings may fill an empty tableau pile.

A run of alternating red and black cards can be moved together from one tableau pile to another.

Stock and waste:

There is one waste pile and the remaining cards make up the stock.

When you click the stock, three cards are dealt to the waste. You can go through the stock as many times as you like. If fewer than three cards remain at the end of a pass, only those are dealt, and the waste is turned back into a new stock before the next pass begins.

The top card of the waste can be played to the tableau or foundation.
