Scorpion Solitaire scaled up to three decks: 156 cards fill thirteen tableau piles of twelve cards each, feeding twelve hidden foundations that only accept a complete same-suit run from King down to Ace. Six columns start with five cards face-down and seven face-up; the other seven columns are dealt entirely face-up. Unlike the single-deck original, there's no reserve to deal out here, since three decks divide evenly across the columns. Expect to win about 10% of the deals you play here: it's a difficult game where skill carries far more weight than luck does.

How to play Triple Scorpion Solitaire

Layout:

13 tableau piles: Build down in suit. Cards in groups can be moved regardless of their order. Fill in the blanks with Kings or groupings of cards led by a King. At the start of the game, each pile is given 12 cards. Five cards are face-down in the first six piles, while the rest are face-up.

Foundation:

There are twelve foundation piles that are not visible on the screen.

Single cards are never allowed to be moved to the foundation. Only once you've built a complete sequence on the tableau, thirteen cards in order from ace to king, can you transfer it to the foundation.

Cards cannot be taken from the foundation after they have been placed.

Tableau:

Thirteen tableau piles are dealt with twelve cards each: in the first six piles the first five cards are face-down and the remaining seven face-up, while the other seven piles are dealt entirely face-up.

A card can be added to a tableau pile only if it's one rank lower and the same suit as the pile's current top card, so the only card that fits on a 5 of hearts is a 4 of hearts.

Cards on the tableau that are not covered by another card can be played onto any other tableau pile.

Only kings may fill empty spots in the tableau.

Furthermore, any face-up card in the tableau may be transferred to another tableau column where it fits, bringing all cards on top of it with it.

Notes:

The goal of the game is to sort the tableau into twelve complete runs, one for each suit in each of the three decks, with the cards in every run arranged in sequence from King to Ace.
